Youssra Raouchi selected as finalist for the Norval Sovereign African Art Prize 2024
We are happy to announce the selection of Noldor Alumna, Youssra Raouchi as a finalist for the Normal Sovereign African Art Prize, 2024
Youssra and twenty-nine other artists across the continent have been selected for this prestigious prize.
Seeing firsthand the creative process of Youssra during her just-ended tenure as a Visiting Fellow was nothing short of impressive and chalking feats like this is commendable. Her work, ‘Moi, c’est l’autre (2023)’ which was entered into the Prize, is part of the body of work created during her Fellowship at Noldor.
“I do not like my paintings to be viewed as having a secret meaning behind them. I prefer that they are enjoyed like Jazz music as Jazz doesn’t follow rules or structures; there are no repetitive notes, it is free and chaotic and that creates the beauty that we enjoy.” – Youssra Raouchi
Congratulations Youssra!
