Welcome the Belin Family!

We are so happy to welcome Roderick Belin, our first recognized African-American Donor, and his wonderful family, to the institution last week! It was amazing to see their reactions when we revealed the Belin Wing to them!

They were able to meet and visit the studio of our 2021 Visiting Fellows Kwabena Lartey and Kwaku Osei Owusu Achim, as they had been following their work through over a period of time with Lartey originally presenting an exhibition on Juneteenth last year at beginning of his tenure.

We had a chance to explain the mission and hopes for our blossoming residency program as we are building an infrastructure for many more emerging artists in Ghana, the continent and the diaspora.

They shared memories of Roderick encouraging them to learn more about the African art scene globally and even the emergence of NFTs as he was so happy to support our digital fellow Marcel Gyan!

We can’t wait to see you again!!
