AT A GLANCE

A 6 month to a year program for emerging artists exclusively from the continent and diaspora.

Working alongside the annual artist resident, senior fellow and the two [2] junior fellows, the visiting fellows are invited to establish their studios in a shared adjoining warehouse space within the institution’s enclave, accessible through a connecting bridge and topped by designated studio spaces. Selected exclusively as emerging artists living and working in Ghana and the ECOWAS region, visiting fellows can be offered up to 6 month to a year long access to Noldor’s spaces and artistic resources. An added benefit is that they are in close contact with the other inhabitants of the space, encouraged to challenge their visual language as they work on creating a full portfolio of work in an ambitious format.

The selection process, which takes place each January, is the result of a concerted process involving Noldor’s Director, Cultural Curator, Advisory Patrons and existing fellows. Upon completion, Noldor’s goal is to launch the visiting fellows into the primary art market in partnership with a commercial gallery or provide artists a formidable platform through a preview solo showing at the institution.

Currently for our 2021 year, Noldor is hosting Ghanaian artists Kwaku Osei Owusu Achim, Kwabena Lartey, SenaBurgundy Appau and Mimi Adu-Serwaah. For 2022 we have onboarded Samuel Olayombo, Kelvin Ansong, Bismark Deku, Festus Alagbe, Sibusiso Ngwazi, and Paul Ayihawu. Our fellow Kwabena Lartey was first to debuted his solo show: The Unknowns at the Residency in June 2021. Mimi Adu-Serwaah was our inaugural artist to open up the Institute Museum of Ghana with her solo exhibition “A Glitch in My Skin” in March 2022 and debuted her first international show in Los Angeles the same month. Samuel Olayombo debuted his first solo exhibition with ADA \ contemporary art gallery in Accra in February 2022 . Sibusiso will be debuting his first solo exhibition with Chilli Art Projects in London this month.

The selection for this programme is subject to Noldor’s designated Selection Committee and is not open to application.
