Mimi Adu-Serwaah [b. 1994] is an emerging artist based in Accra, Ghana. Her paintings combine artistic abstraction with realism in illustrations of figure paintings and portraiture, employing vibrant colors. This style and theme reflect her unique perspective and connection with the concept of perfect imperfections in people.
She is originally a pharmacist by profession, completing her doctorate at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2019. She has always had an affinity for art; thankfully, she noticed the gift for creating early in life. Interestingly, during the lockdown in the pandemic of 2020, Adu-Serwaah took to art as an outlet. Since then, she has maintained a religious art practice.
She finds inspiration from figurative painter Rose Datoc Dall. Mimi has participated in a few exhibitions, including the Ghana Trade Exhibition and The Black Star Fashion & Arts Festival in Accra, Ghana. She will be the first female artist in the Institute Museum of Ghana’s history to debut a solo exhibition at the museum. She is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Noldor Residency for the 2021 year.
