‘A Thatch of Ochres’: A solo exhibition by 2021 Absa L'Atelier Ambassador, Michael Jackson Blebo

Absa L’Atelier and The Institute Museum of Ghana present ‘A Thatch of Ochres’: A solo exhibition by Michael Jackson Blebo, 2021 Absa L’Atelier Ambassador from July 12 to August 16, 2024 at the Institute Museum of Ghana.

This exhibition explores the subconscious in a post-Wakandan utopia, featuring the “adakadan”—an anthill redefined as a multidisciplinary installation and time capsule. The work symbolizes the evolving interpretations of identity and aesthetic rituals, depicting a colony of thoughts and actions. By merging shared histories and contemporary rituals, the installation highlights the complex nature of identity and its cultural foundations, inviting viewers to engage with and reinterpret myths, origins, and beliefs.

Michael [b. 1993] uses local materials within vernacular aesthetics to create forms that reveal traceable events. He transforms these materials into critical forms, likening them to a Pandora’s box.

We look forward to hosting you!
